For centuries, watchmaking was based around complex mechanical movements, but in the 1970s the introduction
of quartz watch movements began to revolutionize the industry. Unveiling its first quartz watch in 1972,
Timex designed approachable, highly accurate watches. By the end of the decade, quartz watches outpaced
mechanical watches, causing panic for traditional Swiss makers. This period in time is known as the "Quartz Crisis." SHOP NOW
