Your Heart Rate Monitor can show you when you are in the exercise zone you choose and signal you when you are not. It can help keep your body exercising at an intensity level that can help you achieve your desired fitness objectives without over- or under-exercising.

Interval timers

Do you ever get so engrossed in your workout, you can't remember if you're supposed to be starting a sprint or jog interval? Interval training routines are designed to vary the intensity of a workout with alternating segments of easy, moderate and hard exertion. Set your TIMEX IRONMAN interval timers, and alerts will notify when you need to change the pace. A classic beginner interval workout is the run/walk. For example, after warming up, start your interval timer and run for 1 minute. When you hear an alert, walk for 3 minutes. At the next alert, repeat the series again. Interval training has been shown to improve speed and endurance more effectively than traditional steady-state workouts.

l

Lap Memory

Displays the number of lap (and split) time readings that can be recalled from memory at another time. For example, a watch with 30 lap memory can store up to 30 laps during a workout.

Laps and splits

Laps and splits take the guesswork out of timing your workouts and pacing your races. A lap is simply the time it takes to complete an individual segment of your workout. A split is the cumulative elapsed time of those lap segments, from the start of the workout. The main advantage of the lap and split data is that it helps you understand your performance improvements. If you are training, you can use it to see how you’re performing between different marker points of your workout; over time, you can evaluate your training progress for the same course, from session to session. If you are racing, throughout the course of a race event, the lap and split data will give you real-time feedback to adjust your current pace and meet your ultimate finish-line time goals.

Luminescent Hands

Equipped with light-absorbing luminescent hands, allowing you to read the watch face in low light situations.

m

Maximum heart rate

To use a heart rate monitor as a training aid you need to identify your maximum heart rate, in order to determine your appropriate training zones. You might consider using the government recommended age-based method. Begin with the number 220 and then subtract your age. For instance, a 35 year old would begin with 220 and subtract 35 (the person’s age), which gives an estimated maximum heart rate of 185. Once you know your maximum heart rate, you can enter it in the HRM Setup Mode and the watch will automatically setup your zones.

Minimum Heart Rate

The lowest recorded heart rate during a workout.

Mother of pearl (MOP)

Stainless steel

An extremely durable metal alloy that is virtually immune to rust, discoloration, and corrosion; it can be highly polished, thus resembling a precious metal.

Target Time Pacer

This feature helps you maintain your desired pace in a workout or race, so you can achieve an overall time goal. With every lap - or distance segment you take, audio alerts and visual displays will indicate whether your pace per-lap is too slow, too fast, or on-target. Without even a glance at your watch, you'll hear if you're on track to meet your goal.

Temperature

Check the temperature on dry land or underwater. Temperature readings are available in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

Tide Clock

The tide clock uses the position of the moon to predict low and high tides. Is it time to surf or time to kick back and wait for the next set?

w

Water resistant

Your watch is water-resistant if it has the wave symbol etched into the back of the case. Water resistance is measured and rated by depth in meters. The tests are made by subjecting the watches to water pressure.

Weather Forecast

The watch can predict the weather for the upcoming 12-24 hour period based on the air pressure trends of the previous twelve hours. Generally, if the air pressure is rising, the weather situation is considered to be improving and is indicated by the sun icon. If the air pressure trend is falling, then the weather situation is worsening and is indicated by showing the clouds and/or precipitation icons. It is important to calibrate your weather (In Calibration Mode) to current conditions, and then allow four hours for the watch to take readings before showing an accurate forecast.
